Appendix f: Common Error Messages

Database Errors

If the program encountered an error attempting to access a database file, the program will halt operation and show a Dr. Watson stplus.exe error and/or database error on the screen. You have the option to click on YES

The Error Indicator Icon (Flashlight)  errorlight.bmp (1862 bytes)

The Error Status Indicator will light up under two different circumstances:

1. The system has dropped below the minimum hard drive space indicated in the "MinHardDrive" line in the [MAIN] section of the STPLUS.INI file.

2. The application encountered a problem when attempting to access a database file (*.db). If "ExitOnError" in the STPLUS.INI file is set to NO, the application will halt and display the error on the screen. If "ExitOnError" is set to YES and your AUTOEXEC.BAT file is set up to return the system to the voice application, the Error Indicator icon will be lit. A click on the flashlight will display the contents of the DBERR.TXT file, which is where database errors are logged. To determine if an error condition still exists, attempt to access the box indicated in the DBERR.TXT. (See Database Viewer info section.)

See the Error Indicator Icon section in Chapter 5 - Visual Icons.

Fax Errors

See Appendix A - Fax Configuration.

Voice Driver Not Loaded

This generally means that the service has not been started on the Dialogic board. Close the voice program. Click on Program, Dialogic Configuration Manager. Under Service, select start service. Once this is working properly, you may set the service mode for 'automatic', which will start service on the board(s) automatically upon reboot.

If you receive an error, check that your devices have been selected properly and that the interrupt and addresses for each board match the actual settings on the boards. There should be a schematic drawing provided with your board. Drawings can also be accessed at http://support.dialogic.com/. Remember that all boards need to be on the same interrupt, but each must be at a different address or ID setting (depending upon the type of board you are using). Also, be sure all sc boards are properly cabled together. See Chapter 2: Installation

There can be conflicts with other devices in your machine. Before selecting an interrupt, be sure that interrupt is available and not being used by another device such as a modem. The most popular interrupts to be available are 2,5,7,9. Sometimes, you just need to try several different settings. If you have more than once voice board, get ONE loaded properly first. Then, you can add from there.

If you have tried several different address settings/interrupts to no avail it sometimes helps to uninstall the Dialogic driver and re-install it. Then begin again.
