Chap 20. j: Maintain/Voice Messages

The Voice Messages command brings up the Message Options window, in which you can define message playback options and control keys that callers will use when reviewing messages. To change any key control, modify the key information in the fields provided. To change the number of seconds to fast-forward, rewind, or pause a message, enter a new value in the fields provided.

The Mail Box owner access key is the touch-tone key that can be pressed during the playing of the Mail Box greeting to get to the equivalent of the User Access Phantom. This is often utilized with DID operations so the Mail Box holder can easily retrieve messages. After this key is pressed the system will ask for the Mail Box password.

The Hot Key to New Messages speeds the Mail Box holder along. By default, they hear, "Press 1 for messages", then, "Press 1 for new messages, press 2 for old messages". If they press this touch-tone after their password the next thing they will hear is their first new message. If the Mail Box holder has a different length password than the maximum password length they will need to press the # key first to end the password input, then the Hot Key digit.

Also in this window you have the option of determining whether messages will be played back in Chronological (old to new), or Reverse Chronological (new to old), order.
