Part IV f: Police and Fire Departments

Many police and fire departments use the VoiceStamps Service Bureau. It saves officers' time and eliminates repetitive information. Community members can call in anytime night or day to hear general and specific information about local crime activity and/or how often to check your household smoke detector batteries.

The FaxTalker module will allow callers to have schedules or lists of local emergency phone numbers faxed to them. The FaxTalker module also allows for broadcast faxing. You can fax a document (printed information or a picture, for example) to hundreds or thousands of pre-set phone numbers.

Police and Fire Departments have also used the OutBound Boxes to autodial police officers and fire fighters in an emergency situation - fire, snowstorm, etc.  You can quickly contact hundreds of people whose numbers have been pre-set in a file with the click of a button. You don't even need to be at the computer.  As a designated program user with a password, you can call from a remote location and set the autodialing in motion. You can use a pre-recorded message, or you can record a message, then set the autodialing in motion. The calling operation can also be suspended and re-started remotely. This type of operation can be used in the case of a missing person or child - you could quickly call everyone in a given neighborhood to look for the child - or to alert a neighborhood of a potential problem.

Department members can have their own individual Mailboxes. Messages can be left for them and the system can be configured to automatically call their home, cell phone and/or pager to alert them of new messages. Often a Department head wants to get the same message to all members in a particular section - the Group Box allows for this. The Department head only needs to call in, record the message once and it is automatically sent to hundreds of mailboxes.  Those mailboxes can then call the individual to alert them of the message. Auto reply is available, so the Department head can be alerted that the party has heard the message.

The PeopleChek module can be used to make daily check-in calls to the elderly or to citizens who may live in a remote area. Third parties will be called if the person does not answer or does not press the correct touchtone response.
