New Technology:  Multimedia, Text to Speech, Voice Recognition

VOICE RECOGNITION

This state of the art computer technology now allows speaker independent (non trained) voice recognition of spoken alphabetic characters over a conventional telephone. These are typically A-Z, 0-9 and frequently used words like Yes, No, Help, Operator and so on.

That means that your voice card will analyze spoken messages and attempt to determine what it was. Success is upwards of 90% even on noisy telephone lines. The technology is also capable of understanding foreign languages like Spanish, French and Asian tongues. The costs are high for this advanced ability - usually in the thousands of dollars per each machine license.

TEXT TO SPEECH

Very often it is necessary to read stored information in a database over the telephone. A typical example of this would be like a proper name like "Joe", city or state or any other voice messages that would be impractical to prerecord. The technology is getting better for this as in the past the spoken sound was hard to understand unless you were used to the funny pronunciations.

This is also an expensive facility usually costing thousands of dollars.

MULTIMEDIA

In recent years, computers have become more powerful and noisy; because of the growth of what's called multimedia. Simply stated, this is special hardware and software added to Microsoft's Windows to display full motion images and output all kinds of sound at room volume. These low cost computer devices do not work on a telephone line only a speaker that sits on a book shelf.

Wav files that are recorded using a computer's sound card are much larger in size may be played back only through VoiceStamp's (enhanced) voice processing hardware and software or convert it to a conventional format referred to as ADPCM with their optional Audio Toolbox program.

INTERNET/EMAIL

Voice to Email - Is a new feature only available on VoiceStamp's enhanced hardware. You would also need a high speed internet connection through a DSL (digital subscriber line) connection or perhaps a cable modem. When recorded thru the VoiceStamp system, the created sound files can be automatically transmitted to the mailbox owner's email box for playback.

WebWatch - Using an internet website, WebWatch can read a message sent to it and dial the person back at the number indicated. Think of it as a reverse 800 number. It is also ideal for use as an international callback device with TollBridge.

CalenDialer - The VoiceStamp system can ask callers when they want a future call made and the actual message delivered. This is ideal for professional appointment setting, personal reminders, or an amusement like a "Santa Claus" or Valentines autodialer.
