The Long Arm of the Library

The Fort Worth Public Library uses a VoiceStamps system to round up overdue books. Twice a day, the system communicates with the library's database and gets a list of overdue books and who checked them out. Then, every patron with an overdue book gets called and delivered a prerecorded message reminding them to return the book. Since installation, the library has saved money on the postage to mail out reminders as well as many manpower hours.
