Los Angeles' 777-Film Service is raking in big bucks with its voice mail setup. This company makes millions of dollars a year by selling movie listings to Los Angeles area theaters. The listings are described to callers by a voicemail system. At first, only a few theaters signed up for the service, but when other cine plexes realized they were losing out, virtually every major theater chain in Southern California subscribed to the service. Callers (from any LA area code) use their touchtone phone to select either an area, a movie or a time. Once the caller finds the desired showing, (s)he can pay for it in advance by credit card, keying in the credit card number, etc. Callers love not having to wait in line to pay for a movie or dig up a paper to find show times.
